Causes of Left side Pain: Don’t Ignore

When I talk about left side pain it can mean anywhere on the left side of the body. Mine though happen to be in the abdomen. This what most people are talking about when they say they have left side pain. Our abdomen is a big section ranging from the thorax to the pelvic bone. That is a large area that hosts many of our vital organs like our spleen, liver, pancreas, kidneys, colon, gallbladder, appendix as well as our stomach and large/small intestines. So having left side pain in our abdomen area often cause of alarm to us. There can be may causes to left side pain from simple stomach distress such as gas, or it can be a sign of a more serious conditions such as:

IBS (irritable bowl syndrome

Constipation

Kidney infection

Kidney stones

Entropic pregnancy (for women)

Pulled stomach muscle

Diverticulitis

Pancreatitis

Stomach ulcer/tumor

Crohns disease

Ulcerative colitis

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (for women)

This is just to name a few actually. You can easily become paranoid reading the whole list. Most of us hate going to the doctors, and put it off. We blame our pain on simple stomach distress like gas, or the foods we eat. If the pain is persisting, gets worse, is followed by any new symptoms such as loss of appetite, fever it is important to really talk with your doctor.

What if your left side pain is in your head? The cause of left side pain in the head can be non serious or be an underlying symptom to a bigger problem just like abdominal left side pain can be. The key is if it has been going on for a while, or just suddenly hits you it can be a sign that there may be a more serious issue that just a one sided head ache such as;

Migraines – severe heads that can plague you for week, and be one sided.

Temporal arteritis – inflammation of a blood vessel in the brain.

TMJ disorder – a myofascial internal joint derangement inflammatory joint condition.

Remember pain is a way our bodies tell us something is not right. If the left side pain fades away then good it was nothing serious. But if it starts to get chronic seek a doctors advice you will feel less worried for it.
